The Bethel GOP will work to cut spending and put financial controls in place to stop these type of large tax increases.
Bethel has had two large tax increases in the past two years.
In 2010 it was the "Trash Fee" of $160.00 per year. This was paid for before out of the General Twp. Fund.
In 2011 it is a Millage Rate increase of 1.015 Mills.
Totaling 1.865 Mills.
The Twp. also had to get a Tax Anticipation loan for $300,000 to cover the first quarter of 2011. With an interest rate of 3.5%.
Twp. Spending has continued to grow for 2010 and 2011. And we had large deficits both years.
In 2012:
Total of 1.865 Mills. Stayed the same as 2011
"Trash Fee" increased to $180.00 per year.
A home assessed at $200,000 will pay $373.00 in 2011.
An increase of $203.00 over 2010. Plus the new 2010 trash fee of $160.00 totaling $533.00 for that same home now.
Back in 2009 the total tax was only $170.00 total for this home. Taxes have gone up over 200% in two short years.
